Rookie Equipment Series part 2: Police Patrol Boots

Something about feet, they seem to continually be overlooked and always an afterthought. As a Rookie, all the high speed gear, kydex holsters, tac lights, and gucci gear, will undoubtedly take precedence over anything else. That is until your standing for hours on end during a protest, or trudging through the woods for a dead body. Then you’ll remember, hmm, I have feet, and you know what, they hurt like hell right now. See there are the boots you wear in the Academy, and the boots you wear on patrol. Granted they can both be the same, but man is the Academy rough on quality gear, better to save your money until after graduation. But you do want to invest in some quality footwear before hitting the streets, you’ll thank yourself later. It’s not even a relatively hard thing to do these days, as there are many quality patrol boots for people to choose from. You can get a really decent pair of patrol boots for around $100, any cheaper and you run the risk of suffering quality, and therefore your own comfortability. Remember a good pair of boots will keep you comfortable while minimizing fatigue and pain.
